According to the Space Weather Prediction Center (SWPC), a geomagnetic storm is going to hit Earth on Sunday.

The Space Weather Prediction Center, a unit of the US National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration Department, has released that a geomagnetic storm will hit Earth on Sunday (September 26) and suggested the possibility of G1 or G2 hurricane status.

GEOMAGNETIC STORM.

A geomagnetic storm or solar storm is a 'space weather' event in which highly magnetic particles eject from the Sun causing a coronal mass ejection (CME). Geomagnetic storms are rated on a scale of 1-5, with 1 being the weakest and 5 the most likely to cause damage.

CAUSES OF GEOMAGNETIC STORM ON EARTH.

Earth's atmosphere protects all living beings from these particles. But the particles can interact with Earth's magnetic field and induce strong electric fields on the surface, which can seriously affect the performance of space-borne and ground-based technological systems.

These solar events can brighten up the sky astonishingly but they also cause significant damage to electronics, the electrical grid, and satellite and radio communications.

EXPERIENCE OF EARTH WITH SOLAR STORM.

These solar storms can affect the Earth for several hours to several days. According to reports, on 1–2 September 1859, a geomagnetic created extremely bright, vivid aurora across the planet and severely damaged the limited power and communication lines that existed at the time; Telegraph systems around the world failed. Some telegraph operators also reported electric shocks.
